Full genome of domestic horse sequenced

Geneticist Cecilia Penedo is hopeful that the horse genome sequencing will lead to a better understanding of genetic diseases like equine cerebellar abiotrophy, a neurological condition that is found almost exclusively in Arabian horses.

UC DAVIS (US)—The whole genome sequence of the domestic horse has been completed by the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in collaboration with an international team of researchers. The project could have implications for horse breeding and even for human health. Continue…
